and I cheer

feeling gutsy 

and proud

I feel connected to these stories,

these love letters to a place and people who seem both foreign and part of our very marrow

I feel empowered by colors and song, 

compassion and loyalty

and I do not doubt that I am made 

of strong stuff...

My heart is willing to believe that there is more

to life than playing it safe
